SCM Meeting 2010-12-08

Agenda:

  • Review editorial changes to the spec
  • Review open issues
  • Review implementation status
  • Review spec status
  • Topics for SCM 2.0

Minutes:

Attending: NickCrossley, SteveSpeicher, ScottBosworth, PaulKomar, PeterHack, CharlesRankin

Nick described the editorial changes to the spec. Scott described the rationale behind the relaxing of constraints - that it gave the client more realistic expectations in using open web services. Steve pointed out that the SCM spec was still out-of-step in having the Title column in the property definition tables.

We then discussed the addition of the stream property to configuration resources - Nick describing this addition as really fixing a defect in that configurations should always have been defined as possibly having this property. There was no dissent, so Nick will add this property to the spec.

We reviewed the status of various implementations of the spec. Nick said the Synergy implementation corresponded to the previous (July) version of the spec, but would be brought up to date early next year. Paul and Peter described the status of the RTC and CC implementations.

There was some discussion of the status of the spec itself. Nick explained that we would not make the spec final until we had more feedback from at least one more implementation. The group agreed that meanwhile the spec was formally in its finalization phase.

Lastly, we started looking at what should be added for SCM 2.0. Nick described how we needed to allow baseline creation, and that was a special case of the more general creation and checking in of SCM resources. We also agreed that the CM-SCM integration needed to be improved, and that we would like to resurrect the build integration story.

Topic revision: r2 - 08 Dec 2010 - 21:15:45 - NickCrossley
