1. Review of Role Names and Accounting Practices

We reviewed the accounting practice of establishing a direct relation between effort and staffing, i.e. that the effort is the integral of staffing with respect to time. LawrencePutnamJr and LeeFischman confirmed that this was OK.

2. Continue Review of Representing Effort Estimates

We reviewed the list of roles. There was discussion about whether the list of roles should be open or closed, and whether the list of predefined roles was adequate. Some other common roles cited were Organizational Change Manager, Configurer. It was felt that the current list was a good starting point but that it had to be enhanced. There was general agreement that there should be a role called Other that could be used to represent any other role not predefined in the list.

[ACTION] ArthurRyman will add an Other role to the predefined list.- DONE 2009-08-30

LeeFischman suggested that although vendor-specific or customer-specific roles should be mapped to the predefined roles for interchange purposes, it would be useful if the interchange format included a representation of this mapping.

[ACTION] ArthurRyman will propose an XML format to represent the mapping.

We briefly reviewed the proposed XML representation of Fact Tables. SteveAbrams felt that a simpler representation might be possible and volunteered to review the proposed format in more depth and propose a simpler format if one suggested itself.

[ACTION] SteveAbrams will review the Fact Table representation and propose a simplification if possible.

3. Other Business

A few people are planning vacations next week, and ArthurRyman will be in Bangalore for the next two weeks. We decided to suspend telecons for two weeks, but continue to colaborate via the wiki and mailing list. The next meeting is on 2009-09-11.
